Fantastic Tour Operator (9 Night 10 days Nepal, Kathmandu-Chitwan, Pokhara)

My brother and I went on our first trip to Nepal last November, and what an experience it was -in no small part thanks to Babu and his team. We opted for a 10 day 9 night tour covering Kathmandu (cultural sites, city), Chitwan (think jungles, tropical climate) and Pokhara (captivating views of the Annapurna range and Fewa lake) to get an inaugural sense of the diversity Nepal has to offer.

Prior to the trip, I had a rough plan in mind and sought quotes from 4-5 tour operators. Adventure Great Himalaya stood out easily with its flexible itinerary and low cost. Of course, Babu was prompt and detailed in his response to my (barrage of) questions. His proposal was reasonable and covered everything I had been looking out for -and we sealed the deal.

the tour was a wonderful experience. Our first guide in Kathmandu, Resham, was brimming with life and deserves special mention. He was more like an older brother than a guide and took great care of us. Resham went out of his way to make our tour of Kathmandu as enjoyable as possible, even helping us to save money on attraction tickets. He has a wealth of knowledge to share about every site you visit (be sure to visit Patan Durbar Square and Bhaktapur if you’re into old forts and architecture).

We enjoyed learning about life in Nepal through Resham’s lens and had fun exchanging stories. He even threw in an impromptu hike in Nagarkot which turned out to be one of the best parts of our trip. The next time we visit Nepal to trek Poon Hill, we’re definitely going with Resham!

Although the guides in Chitwan and Pokhara didn’t quite match up to Resham’s standards, transport and accommodation were seamless. We were taken by the breathtaking views and the incredible hospitality shown by the people of Nepal.

If you’re headed to Nepal for the first time, definitely make time to visit Chitwan National Park -all the more so given it is a UNESCO world heritage site. The jungles of chitwan were a real feast for the senses, but our favourite was the Tharu cultural show!

Once at Pokhara, Sarangkot is a must – watching the truly mesmeric sunrise against the backdrop of the Annapurnas was an amazingly surreal experience (we also went paragliding and took a boat ride in Fewa lake)! Definitely head to Orto (Pokhara) as well – a lovely place to chill in the evenings.

Other highlights of our trip included visiting the Tibetan refugee camp and hiking up the World Peace Pagoda -the calm and serenity you experience at the top is truly characteristic of Nepal and her people (not to mention the breathtaking views of Fewa lake)!

To sum this lengthy review up, my brother and I had an incredibly memorable trip thanks to Babu and his fantastic team at Adventure Great Himalaya. Although both parties were dispirited by the mishap and monetary loss, Babu encouraged us to continue with the trip and enjoy it, and did all he could to ensure the trip went on as usual. He could have easily ceased to carry on with the tour, but made sure we were truly taken care of.

A trip I am sure to make again, and definitely with the amazing Adventure Great Himalaya(AGH). If you are to visit Nepal, I highly recommend you go through Babu and AGH (MAKE SURE TO CALL BABU AND CONFIRM BANK ACCOUNT DETAILS BEFORE TRANSFERRING ANY DEPOSIT SUM, THOUGH).
