Essential Information on the Everest Base Camp Trek

Your 13 days trek to EBC is a proper high elevation trek. It requires a lot of research and preparation
from your side as well before beginning the walk. Here is some of the most significant Information for
trekkers choosing this trek.

EBC tour Routes

Your options to reach the Everest Base Camp have several varieties of trails and itineraries to choose
from. We have a pretty general 13 days EBC trek here which is a straightforward trek to Everest and
back. You can do the 14 days Everest BC trek version of this itinerary by swapping the Phortse and
Pheriche segment with the usual Dingboche one. Similarly, you can add a few more days to your trek
here and extend the trail to include the Gokyo Lakes as well.

You can start the trek by choosing two other trail leads than Lukla. The drive to Phaplu or alternative
flight allows you to complete the trek without domestic flights. Similarly, the trail from Jiri is the original
version of the path followed by the legendary mountaineers' Sherpa Tenzing Norgay and Sir Edmund
Hillary. You can enjoy the experience of lower Everest from Pikey Peak and Everest Panorama trek both
well below 4000 meters mark. Finally, for raising the difficulty here you can do the ultimate Everest
route as the Everest Three pass trek including Kongma La (5,550 m), Cho La (5,420 m), and Renjo La
(5,360 m) passes.

Tour difficulties of Everest BC trek

EBC trek stays comfortably as the moderately difficult trekking trail in Nepal. It is completed in under
two weeks and you don;t have to do any high Himalayan pass. One of the most impressive reasons that
the Everest BC trek has a high completion rate is due to good trail management. You can expect
teahouses and settlements on a regular period allowing you to break down the itinerary if required.
Similarly, most locals here can somewhat speak English and are helpful which makes every trail in the
Himalayas much doable.

Now to address the elephant in the room, let's discuss about altitude sickness. You will have five days of
walking well over the high-elevation mark and most trekkers can experience mild symptoms of altitude
sickness here. Stay hydrated, rest well, walk at a controlled pace, and if the symptoms get serious turn
back. This is the only way of defeating altitude sickness and your guide will aid you as well. As for fitness,
you can have medium-level fitness with some prior trekking/hiking experience to complete the EBC trail
without any hassle.

Best Time to choose Everest Base Camp Tour

Trekkers do the Everest Base camp trek all year round given favorable weather conditions. However, for
the ideal experience and best adventure, we will pick the months from September to November to do
the trek. The views during the autumn season are much clearer as the monsoon ends right before.
Similarly, you can enjoy cleaner paths and trek-friendly weather throughout the trekking period now.

Similarly, our second-best window to do the Everest Base Camp trek is through the spring period. The
rhododendron forests are beautifully blooming red and with the winter just gone you can enjoy some
amazing landscape views. Spring is also the season to climb Mount Everest and you can share the trail
with some of these adventure junkies while you are here.

One of the main reasons trekkers choose Nepal before any other places in the world for trekking is to
witness a teahouse experience. Accommodation in the EBC trail is just that. Teahouses are small locally-
run places providing you with both food and accommodation. Its concept is simple, to provide basic
necessary facilities even in the highest and remotest of regions. You can expect a simple room and
common dining hall made warm with fire stoves. Similarly, trekkers can socialize with fellow travelers
well while staying in these teahouses and even interact with the locals here.

Meals in the Khumbu region can expand from the local cuisine to a broader menu in selective places.
You will stumble upon small bakeries, cafes, and even high-elevation restaurants while on the trail. Most
of these places utilize the local ingredients and produce while carrying the other stuff from Lukla or
other regions. Excluding Namche Bazaar (You can get every type of meal and facilities here), you can
expect a basic menu with some entries of internationally popular dishes. Make sure you try the local
delicacies at least once or twice during the whole duration of the EBC trek.

Both travel and medical insurance are highly recommended for trekkers choosing to do the Everest Base
Camp Trek. You ca  predict conditions in the Himalayas and your insurance policies can save you a lot
of money in these regards. Similarly, it can cover other uncertainties in the Everest region as well and let
you enjoy the trek without worries. Medical insurance is also necessary for post-covid trekking in Nepal.
