Annapurna Circuit Trek is a classic trek located in the Annapurna region in Nepal. It is a long duration trek that demands good physical fitness and mental stability. The highlight of this trek is crossing over the Thorong La Pass(5,416m), which is not less than climbing a small mountain.

The unique aspect of the trek is that we take a break from trekking and drive from Muktinath to Tatopani.

When is the Best Time to trek the Annapurna Circuit?
The best time to trek the spectacular Annapurna Circuit is the autumn season (September-November). You will get the best views of the mountains as the skies are clear and the winds are calmer. The snow-capped mountains look the best at this time.
The spring season (March-May) is favorable for trekking as well. The lush vegetation and blooming wildflowers, especially the rhododendron, makes for a great scenario. The temperatures are moderate, making it perfect for a trekking adventure.
You should avoid the monsoon season as the rainfalls create slippery trails and increase the risk of avalanches and landslides the monsoon clouds also obstruct the views of the mountains. In the winter, snowfall can cause frigid conditions and may delay your trekking adventure.
How Difficult is the Annapurna Circuit Trek?
The Annapurna Circuit Trek is a moderately challenging trek, and anyone with a basic level of fitness can complete it. However, there are a few sections that demand extreme physical and mental endurance and strength.
At least some trekking experience in the high mountains is necessary before you take this trek one. The high-altitude is one of the most challenging aspects of the trek. High altitude often leads to fatigue and altitude sickness. Proper acclimatization and hydration is the key to trek in the region.
If you feel the symptoms of altitude sickness, you can talk to your guide for help. Besides the altitude sickness, the other difficult factor is the long trekking hours that can be quite taxing, especially if you are trekking for the first time in the region. Proper training at least two weeks prior to the trek is necessary.
Trekking Route of Annapurna Circuit Trek
The 15-day Annapurna circuit trek is one of the most trekked paths on earth. After a drive from Kathmandu to Bulbule, we start a trekking journey. The trekking journey starts from Bulbule, passing through Bahundanda to reach Chamje.
We then make our way to Dharapani, passing through Tal. The following day we arrive at Bagarchap. We then officially enter the Manang district after arriving at Chame. We then enter the narrow valley trail to arrive at the dusty terrains of Pisang and Manang.
We acclimatize at this beautiful place and explore the stunning landscapes and culture of the Manang region. We pass through the stunning Thorong Phedi and arrive at Muktinath on a challenging trail. The holy site of Muktinath is where we acclimatize again.
We take a break from our trek as we take a drive to Tatopani from Muktinath as the trails merge with the motorways and the jeeps and buses travelling in the road makes for a dusty trail. We then relax at the hot water springs of the Tatopani to relieve all the stress and fatigue of the trek.
We trek back to Ghorepani to observe the stunning sunrise from Poonhill viewpoint and then hike back to Tikhedhunga and then to Nayapul. We end our journey with a drive to Pokhara and then to Kathmandu from where you can board a flight to your desired destination.

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu and Transfer to Hotel

We can organize a half day tour to some of the monuments like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, and Swayambhunath. The half-day sightseeing is organized so that you receive enough leisure time for rest and prepare for the following day’s trip to Annapurna Circuit. We will be meeting our trekking guide the same evening briefing about the entire trek at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.
The day begins with the drive to Dharpani by jeep from Kathmandu via Prithvi Highway. We go through Dumre -Besisahar – Bhulbhule – Bahundanda – Tal– Dharapani . Passing across pretty waterfalls, small streams that join the Marsayangdi River, suspension bridges, barley and potato fields, numerous overnight camps with tea house occupies the entire way towards Dharapani Overnight stay at Dharapni.
Today Our trekking destination is Chame, which is Headquarters of the Manang Distric, we will walk through of forest with amazing Views of Massif Annapurna 11, Annapurna IV and Lamjung Himala. On this day we will cross local village and some small hotspring as well. Over night Lodge in Chame.
The day starts with a trek to Bhratang and from here into a deep forest in a steep and narrow valley. We cross a river on a long bridge over Marsayangdi River and encounter the soaring Pangdi Danda (a rock face) escalating more than 5,000 feet from the stream. Continuing ahead, we walk across dry grazing land to reach the place called Dhukur Pokhari through which the trail joins to climb Pisang. Overnight stay at Pisang.
Today, we continue our trek through the drier upper part of the Manang district. On the route, we discover the typical Tibetan styled houses and the people who live within – herd yaks and raise crops for part of the year. Through high cross with ups and downs the valley of Ngawal to the descending Munchi, we reach Manang village. Overnight stay at Manang.
An important rest day for acclimatization before reaching high altitude and up to Thorang –la, here with short hike exploring Manang village beneath towering Annapurna and Gangapurna peaks, a nice short hike up for views of Gangapurna Glacier and the Manang glacial Lake.
After a good rest at Manang, walk towards Yak Kharka, an interesting high altitude walk with views of mountains, crossing small streams to reach at Yak Kharka, a small settlement with incredible views of Gangapurna, Annapurna III and Chulu Peaks.
Morning walk leads closer to Thorang-la as the walk progress crossing a bridge and then a climb along the Jarjung river, then leading at Thorung Phedi for short rest and then climb the last hour uphill to Thorang High Camp for overnight stop.
Start the early morning walk on this Big Day! A thrill and highlight of this great adventure, after breakfast a long climb up to Thorang-la with steep haul to reach at 5,416 m / 17,700 ft on top of Thorang-la festooned with Buddhist prayer flags.Highest point of the adventure certainly requires high spirit and strong mind to reach this high point.The top offers superb vista landscapes and snowcapped peaks, from here a long descend to Muktinath at 3,800 m.Muktinath a holy place for both Hindu and Buddhist the word Muktinath literally means ‘the place for Nirvana or Liberation’.
After Muktinath, rest of the journey is easier with moderate walks all the way with a big drop of 1,200m downhill to Kaligandaki river valley, this pleasant walk leads to Kaligandaki river valley, from here walk to Jomsom, headquarter town of Mustang area with a small airstrip above Kaligandaki River. After Jomsom walk to Marpha, one of the most charming village with white painted houses, paved streets and well kept lodges. At Marpha celebrate with apple products cider, brandy and juice this area from Kagbeni to Larjung is famous for delicious apples.
From Marpha onward, walk is enjoyable following Kaligandaki river downstream with views of Tukuche peak, Dhaulagiri and Mt. Nilgiri walk to Larjung village, after few hours walk getting back into tree lines of pine, oaks and rhododendron forest and then reaching at Kalapani village, another lovely village with grand views of Mt. Annapurna I, Nilgiris and Dhaulagiri, a short downhill brings at Lete village for overnight stop.
Walk from Kalapani and Lete onward leads to dramatic change in vegetation and climate, as walk leads between two giant peaks of Dhaulagiri and the Annapurna forming world deepest gorge.
The first two hours of trek leads through Ghasa village with view of snow capped peaks into forest.
After Ghasa a southern end of Mustang area mostly dominated by Thakali people ethnic tribe till Tatopani village.
This pleasant walk continues leading back to paddy fields in warm sub-tropical climate to Tatopani passing beautiful waterfalls of Rupsi.
Tatopani (Hot Spring) village the valley is quite constricted and it is quite warm with sub-tropic climate and vegetation, Tatopani is another nice village with large hot spring pools just by the bank of the River Kaligandaki.
After a wonderful time at Tatopani, trek continues on the nice winding trail for an hour, our route diverts heading uphill with steep climb then with gradual up all the way through dense forest to reach at Chitre, from here an hour climb to Ghorepani village with fantastic views of Mt. Dhaulagiri and Annapurna South with Vara-Shikar known as Annapurna Fang.
Ghorepani famous and popular Pun Hill a view point offers super views of world’s three highest peaks and range of other mountains with striking sunrise and sunset.
Morning an hour hike to Pun-Hill at 3,210m for sunrise views over array of mountains from Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Manaslu to Annapurna and as far to Ganesh Himal in the far eastern horizon including the majestic Mt. Machhapuchare “The Fish Tail”.
From here walk into lovely rhododendron forest, and then a long descend from Ulleri village to Tirkhedhunga for last overnight in the hills of Annapurna Himalaya.
Our last day of trekking leads downhill through nice farm villages and views of waterfalls near Bhirethati and then to Nayapul where this fabulous walks ends with couple hours drive to Pokhara after a wonderful time up in high mountains.
Overnight in Pokhara, a scenic and lovely spot with hotels by the lake Phewa where Annapurna Himal reflects on its pristine calm water.
After a marvelous time on high mountains and hills of Annapurna Himal, morning depart Pokhara after breakfast with overland drive back to Kathmandu.

Today, last day in unique Nepal of Himalayan wonders, after great adventure and experience on Annapurna Circuit trekking and as your flight time AGH staff transfer you to Kathmandu airport for your international departure homeward bound or to your next port of call.
