To all those wishing to trek in the Himalaya

I would like to recommend the services of Adventure Great Himalaya Treks and Expedition Company. In February this year, my husband and I fulfilled a lifetime ambition to trek in the Everest region of the Himalaya. Our daughter was living in Kathmandu at the time and suggested we use Adventure Great Himalaya to organise our trek. Local knowledge is a great thing, as we were to discover. Kathmandu has many such companies offering similar services at variable costs.

Prior to leaving for Nepal Mr Babu Karki, the Managing Director, contacted us by email, advising us on kit, medicines and how to prepare for the trek. He gave us route options, suited to our age, fitness and interests. We finally decided on the Everest Panorama, a seven-day trek taking us from Lukla to Namche Bazaar and Tengboche.

From there on Mr Karki organised everything, flights to and from Lukla, permits, porter services, accommodation en route. He was our guide for the trek. His credentials were excellent, having worked his way up from porter to guide over 12 years, and finally, to management of expeditions. His knowledge and experience of the mountains and trekking, combined with his friendly manner, contributed significantly to the thrill and enjoyment we experienced on this life-changing trip to the top of the world. It was comforting to have a guide who was so obviously respected by other porters and guides on the mountains. When difficulties arose with another trekking party, Mr Karki was consulted and provided advice on the appropriate action to take. All along the way he ensured our needs were met and that we achieved success.

Mr Karki’s company has a team of experienced guides and offers a range of trekking experiences, which can be tailored to meet individual needs. His company also offers other types of activities. He organised our jungle safari to Chitwan National Park, which was a fantastic experience and an excellent contrast to our Himalayan trek. Approaching mid November, a group of five Malaysians set out to attempt to climb Everest Base Camp on a 14 day. According to the timing and research done, we would be able to see Kala Patthar on a full moon?s night, with a gorgeous view of a sunrise (if we make it to the peak of course). There are many trekking companies in Nepal, but we went with Adventure Great Himalaya and got to know the boss (Babu) and one of his guides (Nabin) a little better. From the moment Babu picked us up from the airport and held accommodations as well as the process of getting to the mountain to begin our trek, it was handled with the upmost level of professionalism and efficiency. Needless to say, the guide that we had was exceptional when it comes to customer service as well as knowledge of the various mountains that the Himalayas offered. Our porters were friendly and helpful in many ways, and on behalf of the group we would like to extend our gratitude towards Babu and Nabin along with the porters that made our journey that much more comfortable. Im Oktober 2010 lief ich zusammen mit drei Freunden den Everest Base Camp Trek. Unser Guide hiess Nabin. Er war nicht nur Jemand, der uns den Weg gezeigt hat, sondern er hat auch versucht uns so gut wie moeglich die nepalesische Kultur naeherzubringen. Am Ende unseres insgesamt drei Wochen andauernden Aufenthalts in Nepal hatten wir zu ihm dann ein sehr freundschaftliches Verhaeltnis.

Leider bekam ich kurz vor dem Ziel die ersten akuteren Symptome von Hoehenkrankheit, so dass wir ein paar Tage vorher umkehren mussten. Die so gewonnene Zeit verbrachten wir in Kathmandu, wo Nabin uns dann noch ueber mehrere Tage verteilt die Stadt gezeigt hat. Außerdem hat Babu uns noch einen Rafting Ausflug organisiert.

Alles in Allem muss ich sagen, dass uns Babu und sein Team vom Moment unserer Ankunft in Kathmandu bis zu unserer Abreise einen hervorragenden Service boten. Beim naechsten Trip nach Nepal, welchen es definitiv geben wird, werde ich mich daher definitiv wieder an Adventure Great Himalaya wenden.

We made a right decision to choose Adventure Great Himalaya after corresponding with more than 10 other agencies. Babu, the owner of the agency is very trustworthy and reliable. His promptness to reply to all my concerns and queries made the whole preparation a breeze.

He is fast in making last minute changes and will give constructive advice. We have difficulty to finalize our number of days and travelling date. On top of being ambitious, we wanted to complete Everest Base Camp via Gokyo and Chola Pass in 15 days. 3 days short from the normal itinerary. Babu was very accommodative and made our trip an unforgettable memory.

He had given a wonderful service and help to us. Making arrangements for us when our luggage did not arrive rebook air ticket to Lukla, making contact with our insurance company and even assist to pay our medical bill in the hospital.

Trekking to Everest Base Camp was my lifetime ambitious. I fulfilled it in October 2011. It is my lifetime experience and my life’s most memorable moment. The moment I reached the Everest base camp and the top of Kala Patthar was really awesome. It was like you were on the top of the world….well, not quite, but the sense of achievement you felt was beyond words. I travelled alone and joined with a group of 15 trekkers from UK. I felt very comfortable with the group I went with. They were friendly and not to mentioned very funny as well. We turned into friends almost instantly. There were a lot of fun travelling with them and I am glad to have their company on my trip.

Our trek was fantastic. Everything was very well organized. Even when we had bad weather in Lukla and could not fly back to Kathmandu, the tour guide and the Trekking Company managed to rearrange everything and we flew back to Kathmandu next morning.

On our trek, breakfast, lunch and dinner were very well served. We chose what we want from the menu. Food was fantastic and cooked in “clean” and “safe” kitchens. Adventure Great Himalaya provides us with great porters and lovely guides. Guides are very knowledgeable and have great experience in the Himalaya region. They were friendly; spoke good English and great singers as well. They always made sure that we got the best rooms in the lodge. Every night after dinner, we were brief by guides on the journey ahead next day. I personally found this very useful and communicative.

In Himalaya region, everywhere you look, there is great view. The astonish view is way beyond words could descript. The sheer size of the mountains and valleys is something I have never experienced. Thanks to Adventure Great Himalaya for making my EBC trek a wonderful and memorable experience. If I decide to go back for another adventure in Nepal, I will definitely go with Adventure Great Himalaya.

I began my trip in March 2014…..Not knowing much about Nepal i was ready to be let down with my arrangements…but i couldn’t have been more wrong! Although we were delayed on our flight from Abudabi , on arrival at Kathmandu we were greeted by Babu and his driver and taken straight to our hotel…6 am the next morning Babu s team were ready to take us back to the airport for a short flight to lukla where we would start our trek. Nabin was to be our guide and on arrival at lukla our porters were ready to assist. We struck lucky with the weather for the whole of our trek and nabin proved to be the best of guides, this was sure an experience of a lifetime, accommodation was better than i had imagined and the food was great, the landscape is fantastic and babu s team were great company……on arrival back at Kathmandu Babu arranged for us to have a guide and driver to show us around as we had 3 days…Kathmandu was a place i am sure to return to and will definitely use great Himalaya to organize my trip as they did not fail us at all…very professional!…Thanks Babu…and a big thanks to nabin….he s da man!

I’m finding it hard to put into words how amazing this trip was. We did the Everest Sunrise trek and it was unbelievable!!!!!!! Babu organized everything and his Company is great. Please ask for Lokesh to be your guide he is great and looks after you. Nepal needs you to go people. It is an amazing country that needs as many visitors/tourists NOW to help them rebuild. All the Treks are open. Of course there will be places that have little or no running water etc… But that’s part of the adventure.
