Overview

The Kori Trek in Nepal is a thrilling off-the-beaten-path adventure that traverses some of the most beautiful and unvisited sections of the Annapurna region. It takes place in the lower stretches of the Annapurna region.

The Kori trekking trail winds its way through the hillside villages of Gurung, dense forests and mountain ridge lines with a stunning view of the Annapurna, Lamjung, Machapuchare and other neighboring mountain peaks. Hence, the trek is a chance to observe the natural environment as well as the rich cultural heritage of the area.

This trek is meant for the ones who are looking for an authentic trekking experience on the non commercialized trail of the Nepal Himalayas. It provides an opportunity to see hidden villages, meet the villagers and become familiar with the culture of the indigenous people. The trails combine steep and smooth sections with scenic views and serene campsites, offering trekkers a balanced experience of challenge, natural beauty and opportunity to relax. It is the ideal trek for nature lovers, culture vultures and adventure enthusiasts in search of scenic landscapes, cultural immersion and exhilaration.

Kori Danda Trek is new but already well liked for its panoramic views and pristine natural splendor. The moderate walk makes it accessible to most trekkers and the payoff of being surrounded by fantastic landscapes and getting glimpses of the unique cultures makes it an unforgettable experience.

Kori Danda Trek Permits

Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) Permit

The ACAP permit is required for all treks within the Annapurna Conservation Area which includes the Kori Trek. The price for an ACAP permit is NPR 3,000 per head. The fee is intended to help conserve the area’s natural beauty and biodiversity, as well as support local communities.

Trekker’s Information Management System (TIMS) Card

The TIMS card is a trekking permit that enables the authorities to register and record trekkers for safety and administrative purposes. It accounts for assisting trekkers in case of necessity or for search and rescue operations in an emergency. The TIMS card fee is NPR 2,000 per person.

Best Time for Kori Trek

The best time to embark on the Kori Danda Trek is during the spring (March – May) and autumn (September – November) seasons. They offer the most favorable stable weather conditions and mild temperatures. The clear skies, dry trails, clean atmosphere with fresh air, stark visibility and unobstructed mountain vistas make the journey safe, easy, smooth and enjoyable.

Spring brings the vibrantly colored rhododendron blossoms adding color to the trek while autumn gives way to the multicolored foliage making the journey nothing short of breathtaking. These seasons are also culturally enriching with festivals such as Holi, Buddha Jayanti, Dashain, Tihar and Lhosar. Trekkers can observe the affluent celebration of these festivals by Gurung and Ghale locals en route.
