Overview

Langtang  Trek  7 days is one of the most popular short treks of Nepal. This beautiful trek takes you on an adventure through the culturally rich Tamang settlements, sweeping views, Himalayan lifestyle, and many more.

Langtang   Trek lies about 51 km away from Kathmandu in the north-central Himalayas. This trek is located inside the Langtang National Park which is the first Himalayan national park.This national park is a part of the Sacred Himalayan Landscape and walking through this park requires an entry permit. It is also home to several endangered animals and unique species of floras.

7 Days Langtang Trek is trekking to Langtang valley, you will encounterv some of the endangered animals Such as Himalayan Black Bear, red panda, Assam macaque, and many more. And floras such as oak, maple, rhododendron, pine, etc.For centuries, the Tamang community are the native people living in these areas. However, people from other communities such as Magar, Rai, Sherpa can also be found living in this valley.

Langtang Valley Trek Itinerary -7 Days

Day 1

Drive to Syabrubesi 1,460m- 07 hours.

Syabrubesi Altitude: 1,460 meters / 4,790 feet

Drive Duration: 7 hours

Transportation: By bus

Start the journey from Kathmandu with a bus ride early in the morning. Once you leave the city behind, you begin to see the beauty of rural life around you which can quietly help you slow down from the fast city pace. As you travel through the Pasang Lhamu Highway, you can notice farmland on the terraces, hills all around and peaceful rivers.

You are then taken to the busy town of Trishuli Bazaar after a scenic drive of about 3 to 4 hours. It’s a suitable stop to relax, stretch your legs, to have a cup of tea or lunch alongside. The road begins to ascend from here as the trail gets steeper and rockier the higher you move. The highway then leads you to Dhunche which is the scenic gateway to Langtang National Park. Your permits will be checked here before you go any further. You’ll soon pass Dhunche, the road slowly winds down through forested hills and sharp turns.

As you reach the peaceful village of Syabrubesi, located in Rasuwa district, situated between green hills and mountain peaks. The journey to Langtang Valley usually begins at Syabrubesi, which acts as a main checkpoint on the trail. Visitors can enjoy trekking in simple guesthouses by exploring nearby routes like Ganja La Pass. This is considered one of the most welcoming starting points for both nature lovers as well as adventurers equally.

Day 2

Trek to Sherpa Gaun 2,240m -06 hours.

 

Lama Hotel Altitude: 2,240 meters / 7,349 feet

Trekking  Duration: 6 hours

After taking an overnight rest at Syabrubesi, by 8 am, the trekkers should get ready to trek to move forward after having breakfast to Lama Hotel. Move forward to pass through the lush green forests using flowing rivers and scenic trails that fit your spirit right from the start. The trek begins with a gentle climb on an ascending trail that goes through forests of rhododendron and oak.

As you move along the trail, you will cross several suspension bridges to traverse over the Langtang River. You may add some spice to your walk with some action and adventure. Along the trail, you will walk through small local villages and peaceful tea houses. You’ll have pleasant resting places where you can enjoy tea and the tranquility that surrounds you.

By late afternoon, you arrive at the Lama Hotel in a serene and friendly spot inside Langtang National Park. The Lama Hotel is a small area made up of several teahouses rather than one hotel. This place became popular during the 1980s as a significant point for trekkers passing through the region. Visitors can have real cultural interactions and traditional food, including yak cheese, butter tea, and regular fare like tingmo. Facilities here can vary from shared toilets, solar-powered lights, and even the option of hot showers for a small fee.

Day 3

Trek to Thangshyap 3,430m – 05 hours.

Langtang Village Altitude: 3,430 meters / 11,253 feet

Trekking  Duration: 5 hours

For the day of the trek, the trail generally continues at a steady rate after an early morning breakfast. You may start trekking from the Lama Hotel to continue to the Langtang Village. If you travel higher up, you get to enjoy the thick oak, bamboo, and rhododendron cover unfolding gradually to expansive valleys. The view is becoming more breathtaking with every step as it unveils the top of the mountain peaks with changing Himalayan scenery.

As you move along, you’ll walk through traditional Tamang villages where the local life and culture are interesting. You can finally reach Langtang village, a peaceful village set between high mountains offering 360° views of the Himalayas. The high-altitude villages are renowned for the hospitality of the Tamang people in particular.

The Langtang Village is situated in the heart of Nepal’s Langtang Valley and is a treat to any visitor due to its incredible mountain scenery. Travelers can enjoy lovely views of snow-topped mountains such as Langtang Lirung, along with green forest and alpine meadows. The village is dominated by the Tamang community, who have their own culture and customary practices. You also get to witness yak herding and also get to enjoy yak cheese.

Day 4

Trek to Kyanjin Gompa 3,850m – 04 hours.

After having breakfast by 8 am, you’ll leave Langtang Village and begin your scenic trek to Kyanjin Gompa. The route gradually climbs between the meadows where yaks graze quietly and small streams follow parallel courses with the path, providing a sense of calmness to your hike.  Along the way, you can see the grandeur of the Langtang Lirung appearing in front of you as a breathtaking backdrop.

When you make it to Kyanjin Gompa, you can see the old monastery with deep respect held by the locals. Kyanjin Gompa is a village located in the Langtang Valley, which is a favorite among trekkers. Make a quick side trip to the nearby factory to taste the area’s traditional industry for yak cheese, milk, and local cuisine such as Tibetan bread and Rhildu soup.

The Kyanjin Gompa is a heaven for adventure as well as food enthusiasts. There’s also a monastery in the village, which is historic and provides excellent views of the surrounding mountains. You will then enjoy a hot dinner and a quiet night at a comfortable lodge in Kyanjin Gompa.

Day 5

Hike to Kyanjing Ri for Langtang Himalaya Sunrise View and Back to Goratabela 3Altitude: 3500 meters / 11,483 feet

Day 5 is one of the most exciting days of the entire trekking journey. You can get up early in the morning from Kyanjin Gompa, then move forward to climb the challenging trek to Kyanjin Ri. Although the trek is challenging, the experience is worth it. While climbing, the morning chill and peaceful environment complement the experience. You get to reach the top during sunrise in about three hours.

Marvel at panoramic views of mountains like Langtang Lirung, Yala Peak, and Dorje Lakpa as you explore. The snowy mountain peaks alongside the frozen lakes can stretch out before you, glowing in the soft light of morning. Take a moment to appreciate the stunning scenic beauty by taking some unforgettable photos. After sunrise, you’ll take a cautious journey back to Kyanjin Gompa for a warm breakfast.

You can then gradually descend towards Ghoda Tabela for the overnight stay. Goratabela is a beautiful point right before arriving at Langtang Village. It’s a favorite destination for trekkers to take a break and have lunch. The point offers grazing Himalayan yaks, a common phenomenon in the region. Trekkers can also get a great view of Mt. Langtang and the surrounding area. This area also includes waterfalls and prayer flags, making the overall experience very wholesome.

Day 6

Trek back to Syabrubesi -06 hours.

After having breakfast, you can begin the final day of trekking from Goratabela back to Syabrubesi after having breakfast by 8 am. The trail gradually takes you around descending on the return journey by following in your tracks. These trails go through peaceful forests alongside colored streams and peaceful villages, providing a fresh perspective on the journey.

You’ll walk through the jungle where the trail is covered with pine and rhododendron trees. You might as well catch a glimpse of birds or even a little wildlife. Along the way are welcoming locals and grazing livestock that give life to the scenery. The downhill seems comparatively more easygoing as it allows you to absorb the view and glance over the day’s walking in the mountains. You’ll reach Syabrubesi by late afternoon and check into the cozy lodge for the night. Arrive and be welcomed with a hot meal, then mingle with other travelers for a while. The journey to the Langtang Valley trek comes to an end as the day passes by.

Day 7

Drive back to Kathmandu By Bus – 06 hrs journeys.

On the final day of the journey, you can start with a decent breakfast at the Syabrubesi lodge. You’ll then go back to Kathmandu by bus, taking about a six-hour journey. Although the road is rough at times, the changing landscape makes the drive exciting. You’ll pass through terraced fields, green hills, and colorful roadside villages offering you a final glimpse of rural Nepal.

Halfway through the journey, you will stop for lunch at a local eatery. A good time to relax to indulge in some local Nepali food. You can’t help but think back about last week’s mountain hike while the bus continues. Upon arriving in Kathmandu, you will be staying overnight in a nice lodge where you get to dine. You will end the trip by relaxing at the lodge after the trek to Langtang Valley adventure with lasting memories.
