Overview
Annapurna Circuit Trek is recognized as one of the greatest treks in the world around the esteemed Himalayan range of Annapurna. The trek takes the trekkers into one such adventure that cannot be described by any superlatives. Amidst all the scenic delights, the trek also takes you to the homes of the Thakali and Gurung communities that preserved their ancient culture.
16 Days Annapurna Circuit Trek will start after driving by jeep from Kathmandu. We will reach Chame after crossing several destinations like Besisahar, Bhulbhule, Bahundanda, and Tal. Alluring waterfalls, suspension bridge, natural landscape, the Marsayangdi River and the Kali Gandaki River are the major feature of the trek.
As the trekkers ascend an anticlockwise route from Chame, they spot the Tibetan typical flat-roofed stone houses still pristine, numerous tea houses with lodges, the glance of the Annapurna II walking steep into the subtropical woods up to Pisang – Manang – Yak Kharka. The famously known high Thorung La pass (5,416m) seems easier and safer as the trail descends from Thorung La High Camp to reach Thorung La Phedi (foothill) and ascends through a common trail to reach the pass. The overwhelming mountain scenery delightfully pleases the trekkers which include the Annapurna Massif, Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Mt. Machhapuchhre (6997m), Mt. Manaslu (8163m), Mt. Gangapurna (7454m), and Tilicho Peak (6920m), and many others.
While much of the Himalayas cannot trek in the monsoon, Annapurna Circuit actually owns a wide variety of climate especially experienced at the Thorung La pass, which is possible to trek most parts of the circuit all year-round even to avoid the crowd. However, the sunny and warm climate (Sept. to Nov.) and (March to May) are the best seasons for this trek.
Our Annapurna Circuit Trek package is distinctly designed for the en-rapt trekkers who wish to spectacle the dazzling view of the various mountain ranges and nature. Travelers who wish to experience something distinct prevailing in the country whether it be the culture of the people or their lifestyle.
Annapurna Circuit Trekking also has an alternate package viz. the Annapurna Circuit and Tilicho Lake Trekking.

Best Time for Annapurna Circuit Trek
Unlike most of the other Himalayan treks in Nepal, the Annapurna circuit trek is doable in any time of the year. However, Autumn (September to Late November) and Spring (March to late of May) are the most popular time for Annapurna circuit trekking. Because of the bright and sunny days with fairly stable weather conditions.
Annapurna Circuit Trek Difficulties
The Thorung La Pass, 5416 meters is a high altitude pass. Crossing the pass is tough. You are at higher risks of altitude sickness. Moreover, climbing to the top of the pass and crossing it is highly challenging. It demands more physical strength.
This Annapurna Circuit Trek is a long duration trek. Also, it covers a long distance. Trekkers who are not used to long distance trekking might find it difficult to complete this trek. There are some trekkers who feel exhausted and quit in the middle of the trek.
Crossing the Thorung- La pass in monsoon and winter is quite challenging due to unstable weather and climate. In monsoon, the trekking trail becomes slippery and wet. In winter, the Thorung La pass might remain closed due to heavy snowfall.
Annapurna Circuit Trek Route
The trekking route of the Annapurna Circuit Trek can vary upon the package you choose. The trek itinerary generally ranges from 13-20 days. You can choose the one based on the number of days available for trekking on your schedule.
Our 16 days, Annapurna Circuit Trekking journey starts with a scenic drive from the capital city of Kathmandu to Jagat , then enter into the stunning Dharapani (1920 m). Chame (2,670 m) and (Pisang 3230 m) . We enter the beautiful Manang settlement (3450 m) where we acclimatize for the first time during the trek.
On the next day, we will acclimatize and explore the region through small hikes. The trek starts to get a bit taxing as we pass through the altitude of 4000m as we trek to the Sirikharaka village (4060m). If you choose the longer 20 day itinerary, you will get to observe the pristine Tilicho Lake (4949m) and explore around the surreal Tilicho Base Camp (4200m).
The shorter duration trek skips past these routes to arrive at the pastures of Siri Kharka and Yak Kharka (4200m). The treks are short but require long ascent and descent that may physically drain you. The most challenging part of the trek is the ascent of the majestic Thorong La Pass (5416m), which is the highest point of the trek.
The trek then leads to the sacred temple of Muktinath (3800m) from Thorong La pass. We worship at the pilgrimage site of Muktinath. Muktinath is a holy place where both Hindu and Buddhist tourists come to wash away their sins of the mortal world. You will get to acclimatize and rest properly at various points of the trek.
The trails around the Muktinath area converge with the motor roads in the area. The buses, and jeeps traveling in the route makes the trail dusty and uncomfortable. Hence, many trekkers avoid trekking this particular part of the trail. A direct jeep drive from Muktinath is our best option. You can also take a direct flight from Jomsom to Pokhara.
Accommodation In Annapurna Circuit Trek
The Annapurna Circuit trek is a well-marked trek with plenty of accommodation on offer along the trail. The lodges or guest houses have basic rooms consisting of two beds and a shared bathroom.
It’s challenging to get room for peak season. So, advance booking is effective during peak season.
These connectivity facilities are almost non-existent once you reach Manang. Although the accommodation facilities are pretty basic, the awe-inspiring natural beauty of the pristine Tilicho Lake and the entire Annapurna region will take your breath away.
Food Facilities
For breakfast, trekkers get served porridge, pancakes, and eggs. You will generally have “Dal Bhat” for lunch and dinner. Refilling is also available if you eat Dal Bhat. Other common eastern and western food are also available in the menu.
You should also carry snacks like Granola Bars, Snickers Bars, Protein Bars, and Energy Drinks for instant energy during the trek.
