Overview

The Ruby Valley trek is a lesser-known hidden trek located in the Himalayan foothills of Nepal. This outstanding trek offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas and a unique cultural experience. The recently opened tour takes place in the remote Ruby Valley region, between the Manalsu and the Langtang region.

 

With moderately challenging trails, you will have a good fitness level to complete the trek. This trails you through beautiful forests, past stunning waterfalls, natural hot springs, etc., while observing the snow-capped Himalayas. The sweeping views of the Himalayas include the Ganesh Himal, Manaslu Himal, Langtang Himal, and others.

 

You will also pass through the region’s majestic Pangsang La Pass (3,842 m). The trails take you through the region’s diverse terrains, including the terrace, farmed hills, vast meadows, and rocky hills. Trekkers will pass through the fast-flowing rivers, suspension bridges, stone-driven mills, and others. You can also observe the region’s exotic wildlife, including the musk deer, leopards, etc.

 

The region is home to the indigenous Tamang and Gurung people, who have a rich and unique culture. You will pass through the cultural trails and get a complete insight into the local culture and heritage of the region. Parvati Kund is a religious heritage site where you can find many devotees on the occasion of Janai Purnima.

 

The trek typically starts from Syabrubesi, where you arrive through a scenic drive. The trail takes you through the dense forests, where you will see a variety of flora and fauna. As you climb higher, the Himalayas’ views become more breathtaking. In the next few days, you will pass through the settlements of Gatlang, Somdang, and Tipling.

 

You will also cross the Pangsang La Pass located at an altitude of 3455m. The next destinations along the trail include the settlements of Chalise Gaun, Borang, and Darkha Phedi. From there, you will begin your journey back to Kathmandu where we conclude our journey.

They provide you with the basic facilities to stay in a cozy atmosphere. You will get a warm welcome from the local people. There are lesser facilities, but you will need to manage them in the remote trails. You can get extra facilities like hot water, electric charging, and others at an added cost.

 

You will get the basic food facilities, including the Nepalese meal of “Dal Bhat”. It is the most famous meal in Nepal that gets eaten by all Nepalese people. Day 1

Arrive In Kathmandu

Arrival at Kathmandu

Overnight: Kathmandu

After you arrive at the Airport in Kathmandu, you will continue your journey to the hotel. Our staff will pick you up from the airport and take you to the hotel. There you can rest and prepare for the Ruby Valley Trek.

Day 2

Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi

Syabrubesi altitude: 2380m
Drive duration: 5-6 hrs
Overnight: Syabrubesi

After having breakfast in the early morning, you will continue your journey to Syabrubesi. The Syabrubesi is a beautiful settlement in the region and the trek’s starting point. You will pass through the region’s winding highways, which are quite an adventure.

There are terrace farms, small villages, settlements, and others. The road passes along the bank of the Trishuli river while observing the Ganesh Himal. Finally, you will arrive at Syabrubesi after 6-7 hours of driving in the beautiful terrain. There you can stop for the night.

Day 3

Trek from Syabrubesi to Gatlang

Gatlang altitude: 2238m
Trek duration: 5-6 hrs
Overnight: Gatlang

The trails will take you from the Syabrubesi village settlement to Gatlang on this trek section. The course will continue passing through the serene rural villages with many terrace-farmed hills.

The beautiful trails through the off-the-beaten path of the region are enchanting. You will pass through the peaceful and tranquil trails and get spectacular views of the snow-clad mountains.

Gatlang is a beautiful settlement of the Tamang and Gurung ethnic communities. A cheese production center and a nearby religious pond are sacred for the Hindu pilgrims. After arriving at Gatlang, you will spend the night at the homestay in the region.

Day 4

Trek from Gatlang to Somdang

Somdang altitude: 3271m
Trek duration: 5-6 hrs
Overnight: Somdang

From Gatlang, the trails will pass through the village area with a Hindu pilgrimage pond and shrine. This Parvati Kund is also quite famous among travelers. The beautiful trail then leads you through the rhododendron and pine-covered trails.

Many scenic landscapes include the Khurpi Bhanjyang pass, with an outstanding snow-clad mountain vista. The spectacular descending trail will then lead you to the beautiful forested area. You will cross the spectacular Somdang River on the border of the Dhading and Rasuwa districts to arrive at the Somdang village settlement.

Day 5

Trek from Somdang to Tipling via Pangsang la pass

Tipling altitude: 3541m
Trek duration: 5-6 hrs
Overnight: Tipling

The trails of the trek will lead you through the region of Tipling from Somdang. You will pass through the majestic Pangsang la pass in the process. The course then guides you through the scenic jungle areas to a large pasture or the Pangsang Kharka.

This wide-open meadow provides fantastic views of the Annapurnas, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and more. There are dense jungle areas that you will enter before arriving at the Tippling. There are predominantly Tamang communities with Tibetan Buddhism influenced cultural heritage sites like Buddhist monasteries. There you can explore the region and rest at the teahouse.

Day 6

Trek from Tipling to Chalish Gaon

Chalish Gaon altitude: 2380m
Trek duration: 5-6 hrs
Overnight: Chalish Gaon

The trail of the trek will lead you to the challenging terrains of the region. You will pass through the scenic landscapes of the villages of Shertung and Chalish Gaon. The trails will guide you through the numerous trekking regions passing through the serene jungle.

We will cross a tributary and finally arrive at the village settlement of Chalish Gaon. There is also a viewpoint in the Shertung village located just 100 m above Chailsh Gaon. There you can observe the scenery of snow-clad mountains and lush valleys below. You will rest overnight at the homestay or the local lodge in the area.

Day 7

Trek from Chalish Gaon to Borang

Borang altitude: 1800m
Trek duration: 5-6 hrs
Overnight: Borang

The trail then leads you to Borang from Chalisgaon. You will pass through the beautiful path that descends to Lishne Khola from Borang. We will traverse through the Ankhu Khola and Kimdang Phedi Village. After arriving at the Borang village, you will spend the night in the homestay or local lodge in the region.

Day 8

Trek from Borang to Darkha Phedi

Darkha Phedi altitude: 2380m
Trek duration: 5-6 hrs
Overnight: Darkha Phedi

The trail section of the trek will take you to the Darkha Phedi from Borang. You will trek through the serene trekking routes of the trek. Incredible trails pass through the Ankhu Khola and Kimdang Phedi Village. You will arrive at the region after trekking for a few hours and spend the night there.

Day 9

Drive from Darkha Phedi to Kathmandu

Kathmandu altitude: 1400m
Drive duration: 5-6 hrs
Overnight: Kathmandu

Finally, after completing the trekking journey in the region, you can drive to Kathmandu from Darkha Phedi. It takes around 7-8 hours to complete the driving trip back to Kathmandu. After arriving in Kathmandu, you will rest overnight at the hotel.

This is a free day on the Ruby Valley Trek journey. The beautiful trek in the region is complete, and you will have a free day to explore the area. You can relax at the hotel, go personal shopping, or go sightseeing around the old cultural heritage sites.
