Overview

 Annapurna Circuit Trek is recognized as one of the greatest treks in the world around the esteemed Himalayan range of Annapurna. This  trek is complete full version trekking  and it takes the trekkers in traditional route which start from dharapani and end to Hile nayapul via Ghorepani poon hill

The Annapurna Circuit adventure that cannot be described by any superlatives. Amidst all the scenic delights, the trek also takes you to the homes of the Thakali and Gurung communities that preserved their ancient culture.

The 14 Days  Annapurna Circuit  Journey starts after driving by jeep from Kathmandu to Dharapani. The next day, we will trek to Chame (the headquarters of Manang District). En route, we will pass several scenic destinations with alluring waterfalls, suspension bridge and other natural landscape. The Marsayangdi River and the Kali Gandaki River are the major features of the trek.

As trekkers ascend the anticlockwise route from Chame, they pass traditional Tibetan-style flat-roofed stone houses and numerous tea houses offering lodging. They catch glimpses of Annapurna II while climbing steeply through subtropical forests toward Pisang, Manang, and Yak Kharka.

From Yak kharka, our destination will be Thorong La high camp,  This is the highest altitude  we sleep. Next early morning  we climb to Thorong La Pass (5, 416m)  The famously known Himalaya high offers overwhelming mountain scenery that delights trekkers. The panoramic views include the Annapurna Massif, Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Mt. Machhapuchhre (6,997m), Mt. Manaslu (8,163m), Mt. Gangapurna (7,454m), Tilicho Peak (6,920m), and many others.

After conquering the Throng La Pass,  we continue the trek to Muktinath (the popular Hindu temple). We will overnight here and the next day, continue trekking to Poon hill via Marpha, Tukuche and Tatopani (natural hot spring). The Poon Hill is another famous Annapurna trek’s highlight. It offers beautiful 360 degree sunrise view over the majestic Annapurna Himalayan range. After the Poon Hill hike, we will head towards Hile, from where we will take a jeep to Pokhara. The next day, a scenic overland drive to Kathmandu from Pokhara will conclude your 17-day Annapurna trekking adventure.

While doing this  Annapurna Circuit Trek, you can add  Few others popular trek routes like Tilicho lake , narphu valley which are  tourist Hot list trekking destination, While much of the Himalayas cannot trek in the monsoon, Annapurna Circuit actually owns a wide variety of climate especially experienced at the Thorung La pass, which is possible to trek most parts of the circuit all year-round even to avoid the crowd. Annapurna Circuit Trek Difficulties  

The Annapurna Circuit trek Difficulties  is a Hard challenging trek , It is Hard moderate level trekking  The thorung La Pass, 5416 meters is a high altitude pass. Crossing the pass is tough. You are at higher risks of altitude sickness. Moreover, climbing to the top of the pass and crossing it is highly challenging. It demands more physical strength.

This 17 days Annapurna Circuit Trek is a long duration trek and there are so many up and down hill trails, The  trekkers who are not used to long distance trekking might find it difficult to complete this trek. There are some trekkers who feel exhausted and quit in the middle of the trek.

Crossing the Thorung- La pass in monsoon and winter is quite challenging due to unstable weather and climate. In monsoon, the trekking trail becomes slippery and wet. In winter, the Thorung La pass might remain closed due to heavy snowfall.

The 12 day itinerary is called the half version and begins in Dharapani from either Kathmandu or Pokhara. The trek takes you to places like Chame and Manang. In addition, you will also cross the Thorong La Pass (5,416 meters) to each Muktinath and complete the journey on the following day where you will enjoy an exhilarating Jeep ride to Pokhara.

                                7 Day Itinerary – Rapid Trek

The 7 day itinerary is shortest Itinerary  which begins in the picturesque Manang and requires a 12-13 hour drive from either Kathmandu or Pokhara. The trek continues to Thorong La Pass, which you will cross to reach Muktinath and then drive to Pokhara. The trek takes you to diverse terrains and requires crossing the high pass. Thus, it is recommended only for those with Himalayan trekking experience, as it may not be suitable for beginners.

Best Time to Hike Annapurna Circuit

Trekking to Annapurna  Circuit is possible in All year round,  you will experience  different views in different season,  how ever, the best time to trek Annapurna is  the month of  March to  end of May and  from Mid August to End of December, During this period the weather is stable, clearer skies  and excellent mountain views

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu - Pick up from Airport and transfer to Hotel

Drive to Dharapani by Private Jeep-7- 8 hour

Early Morning take breakfast and  Drive by Private Jeep to Jagat, Our Journey will be 8, 9 hour. Over night Lodge.

Day 3

Trek to Chame-2710 m, 5,6 hour.

Today Our trekking destination is Chame, which is Headquarters of the Manang Distric, we will walk through of forest with amazing Views of Massif Annapurna 11, Annapurna IV and Lamjung Himala. On this day we will cross local village and some small hotspring as well. Over night Lodge in Chame.

Day 4

Trek to Pisang 3, 230 m – 05 hrs.

The day starts with a trek to Bhratang and from here into a deep forest in a steep and narrow valley. We cross a river on a long bridge over Marsayangdi River and encounter the soaring Pangdi Danda (a rock face) escalating more than 5,000 feet from the stream. Continuing ahead, we walk across dry grazing land to reach the place called Dhukur Pokhari through which the trail joins to climb Pisang. Overnight stay at Pisang.

Day 5

Trek to Manang Village 3,450 m – 05 hrs.

Today, we continue our trek through the drier upper part of the Manang district. On the route, we discover the typical Tibetan styled houses and the people who live within – herd yaks and raise crops for part of the year. Through high cross with ups and downs the valley of Ngawal to the descending Munchi, we reach Manang village. Overnight stay at Manang.

Day 6

Rest day at Manang for local hikes and acclimatization.

An important rest day for acclimatization before reaching high altitude and up to Thorang –la, here with short hike exploring Manang village beneath towering Annapurna and Gangapurna peaks, a nice short hike up for views of Gangapurna Glacier and the Manang glacial Lake.

Day 7

Trek to Yak Kharka 4,110 m – 04 hours.

After a good rest at Manang, walk towards Yak Kharka, an interesting high altitude walk with views of mountains, crossing small streams to reach at Yak Kharka, a small settlement with incredible views of Gangapurna, Annapurna III and Chulu Peaks.

Day 8

Trek to Thorang High Camp 4,600 m – 04 hrs.

Morning walk leads closer to Thorong-la as the walk progress crossing a bridge and then a climb along the Jarjung river, then leading at Thorung Phedi for short rest and then climb the last hour uphill to Thorong High Camp for overnight stop.

Day 9

Cross Thorang-La 5,416 m and to Muktinath 3,800 m – 07 hrs.

Start the early morning walk on this Big Day! A thrill and highlight of this great adventure, after breakfast a long climb up to Thorang-la with steep haul to reach at 5,416 m / 17,700 ft on top of Thorang-la festooned with Buddhist prayer flags.

Highest point of the adventure certainly requires high spirit and strong mind to reach this high point.The top offers superb vista landscapes and snowcapped peaks, from here a long descend to Muktinath at 3,800 m.Muktinath a holy place for both Hindu and Buddhist the word Muktinath literally means ‘the place for Nirvana or Liberation’.

Day 10

Drive from Muktinath to Tatopani 1,190m - 06 hrs.

Today we  drive from Muktinath to Tatopani,  since there are good road, we will enjyo driving through of local village like marpah, tukuche.

The first two hours of trek leads through Ghasa village with view of snow capped peaks into forest.

After Ghasa a southern end of Mustang area mostly dominated by Thakali people ethnic tribe till Tatopani village.

This pleasant walk continues leading back to paddy fields in warm sub-tropical climate to Tatopani passing beautiful waterfalls of Rupsi.

Tatopani (Hot Spring) village the valley is quite constricted and it is quite warm with sub-tropic climate and vegetation, Tatopani is another nice village with large hot spring pools just by the bank of the River Kaligandaki.

Day 11

Trek to Ghorepani 2,750 m - 06 hrs.

After a wonderful time at Tatopani, trek continues on the nice winding trail for an hour, our route diverts heading uphill with steep climb then with gradual up all the way through dense forest to reach at Chitre, from here an hour climb to Ghorepani village with fantastic views of Mt. Dhaulagiri and Annapurna South with Vara-Shikar known as Annapurna Fang.

Ghorepani famous and popular Pun Hill a view point offers super views of world’s three highest peaks and range of other mountains with striking sunrise and sunset.

Day 12

Trek to Hile ,1,500m - 05 hours walk The Take Jeep Back to Pokhara

Morning an hour hike to Pun-Hill at 3,210m for sunrise views over array of mountains from Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Manaslu to Annapurna and as far to Ganesh Himal in the far eastern horizon including the majestic Mt. Machhapuchare “The Fish Tail”.

From here walk into lovely rhododendron forest, and then a long descend from Ulleri village to Tirkhedhunga – Hile  The Ride Jeep to Pokhara . for last overnight hotel in Pokhara.

Permits are required to enter the protected Annapurna Region.  Annapurna Conservation Area Permit: The Annapurna conservation area permit costs US$ 21.72 (Nrs.3000 per person)

 Annapurna Circuit  Trek Distance

The total distance of Annapurna Circuit Trek ranges between 160 to 230 km. However, the distance also varies according to the chosen routes. The trek begins with a scenic ride to Besisahar or Dharapani and takes you through Manang Valley. Generally, the trek can be completed within 14 to 15 days if you choose classic route. However, the itinerary can be adjusted to suit your preferences and time frames.

You will cover long distances ranging between 8 to 15 km on foot in the varied terrain. Likewise, the trekking duration per day, on average, is 5 to 7 hours. However, it can vary based on the walking pace of every individual. Crossing Thorong La Pass is the main highlight of the trek, and then you will follow a descending route and traverse places like Tatopani, Ghorepani, and Hile and drive to Pokhara, which marks the completion of the journey on foot.

If you trek in a group of 5 to 9 people, then you can book the package at US$1050 per person. If there are 15 or more people in a group, then the Annapurna Circuit Trek package costs US$ 999,

The package cost includes the cost of transportation, permits, accommodation, and three meals a day during your trekking period. We arrange all the ground transportation in a private vehicle. An experienced trekking guide and porter will accompany you on the journey, and their salary, meals, and accommodation are included in the package. Packing List

During the Annapurna Circuit Trek you need to pack thoughtfully to be secure from the varying weather conditions and traverse smoothly through diverse terrains. The higher zones are generally cold, so layering up is important for a secure journey. You need to pack base layers, insulated and outer layers to stay comfortable and adjust clothing according to the weather. Make sure to pack base layers like warm thermals, moisture-wicking shirts and undergarments.

Can I add Tilicho Lake to this Annapurna Circuit?

The main trail to the lake begins from Manang where trekkers proceed to Tilicho Base Camp before they reach the lake. After visiting the lake, the trekkers join the main trail of the Annapurna Circuit. If you want to visit Tilicho Lake, you have to spend two to three extra days, which will give you the best views and amazing experiences at high altitudes.

How long does it take if I add Nar Phu Valley?

If the Nar Phu Valley is included in the Annapurna Circuit trek, it will take longer. The Nar Phu Valley is a restricted area with pristine nature, ancient Tibetan cultural heritage and isolated traditional villages. Trekkers explore the valley before crossing the high Kang La Pass to rejoin the main Annapurna route.
