Trekking in Nepal Langtang Valley is definitely popular due to the stunning views of Langtang Lirung mountain, which is the highest peak in the Langtang Himal range. The peak stands at an elevation of 7,227 meters (23,711 feet) and is one of the most prominent mountains visible throughout the trek.

Langtang Lirung is a beautiful snow-capped mountain that dominates the landscape of the Langtang Valley. Langtang National Park

Langtang National Park was established in 1976 and is now home to distinct plant and animal species. The region is rich in green vegetation, and this contributes to the overall climatic balance of the region.

 

The Langtang National Park is home to distinct flora and fauna of the region. The folk dance of this community consists of Tamang Selo and is done with grand celebrations. On the other hand, Kyanjin Gompa is about 400 years old Buddhist Monastery that has religious value. It is a significant landmark and holds religious significance. A local legend gives rise to the name Kyanjin, and it states that the monastery Kyanjin Gompa was constructed atop a rock that resembled camel ribs.

Also, right next to the Kyanjin Gompa, there is the Kyanjin Yak Cheese Factory. You can visit there and try the local cheese of the region.

 

Best Time for Langtang Valley Trek

The Langtang  Valley Trek is possible to do  throughout the year, but Spring Season  (March to May) and Autumn  season (September to November) are the best time. During this month,  the weather will be clear, good visibility, you can see mountain very clearly. This ensures you a safe and secure experience as it alleviates majorities of challenges like rainfall, snowfall, extreme coldness, floods, avalanches, landslides, and many more.

Langtang Valley Trek Iitnerary

Day 1

Kathmandu to Shyabrubesi By Jeep- Trekking to Rimche, 2450m, 7 hour drive, 4 hour Trekking

Kathmandu Elevation: 1,390 m

Syabrubesi Elevation: 1,960 m

Drive Duration: 7 hours

Rimche Elevation: 2,450 m

Trek Duration: 4 hours

 

You will start the Langtang Valley Trek with an early morning drive to Syabrubesi Village.  The drive covers a distance of about 122 km. The road journey is scenic and engaging. You will enjoy this adventurous drive through hills, rivers and beautiful villages.

 

You can also get glimpses of snowy peaks along the drive. After a 7 hour drive, you will arrive in Syabrubesi. You can get some rest at Syabrubesi and begin the 2nd part of the trek. You will begin your journey on foot at the side of the Bhote Koshi River. You will pass through the pine and bamboo forests. You will pass through traditional villages like Domen and Bamboo and get a chance to observe the daily lives of locals which enhances your overall experience. You will follow an uphill path and traverse oak forests and several village settlements to make it to Rimche.

 

Rimche is a beautiful village in Langtang Valley and presents beautiful views of the surroundings. You can see the most picturesque landscapes in the village. This village offers comfortable lodging to the trekkers. After arriving at Rimche, you can enjoy a warm meal sitting outdoors in the yard of your teahouse, enjoying the scenic views.

Day 2

Trek from Rimche to Langang Vilage , 3430m, 7 Hour

Langtang Village Elevation: 3,430 m

Trek Duration: 7 hours

 

The scenic trek on the second day begins at 8 A.M after breakfast. Along the way to Langtang Village, you will see several small, picturesque villages. You will walk along vibrant rhododendron forests, the Langtang River and mesmerizing landscapes. You will follow an uphill path to and reach the Lama Hotel.

 

From there, you will continue your hike through the culturally rich Tamang and Sherpa villages. You will walk through the suspension bridges and see several prayer wheels and prayer flags.You will ascend a steep path to arrive at Ghoda Tabela. On the final stretch, you will pass through the old Langtang Village. Then you will reach the new Langtang Village.

 

Langtang Village is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty. You can see the stunning sights of Langtang Lirung and Ganesh Himal. In addition, you can see beautiful stone houses and teahouses in this village which is fascinating.

 

After a day’s trek, you will have time to relax in a local teahouse in Langtang Village. You will get much-needed rest at the teahouse in Langtang Village.

Day 3

Trekking to Kyanjing Gompa , 3880m, 3 Hour

Kyanjin Gompa Elevation: 3,880 m

Trek Duration: 3 Hours

 

You will depart Langtang Village at 8 A.M and begin trekking to your destination on Day 3, which is the beautiful Kyanjin Gompa. You will trek along the high-altitude paths while observing the  panoramic vistas. As you ascend gradually, you will get to see the mani walls, prayer flags, and chortens before you eventually reach Mundu village.

 

You will continue the trek crossing wooden bridges and through the rhododendron forests. The beautiful views of Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa and surrounding mountains can be seen along the trail. You will follow an uphill way and cross the suspension bridge before finally arriving in the peaceful Kyanjin Gompa. You can visit the monastery or visit the Yak cheese factory in the village.

 

Kyanjin Gompa is a picturesque village in the Langtang Valley. This village is named after the old Kyanjin Monastery. It is a serene holy site that is significant to locals. From this village, people trek to Tserko Ri and Kyanjin Ri. You can see the perfect combination of natural beauty and cultural heritage in Kyanjin Gompa which makes your journey delightful and memorable.

Day 4

Climb to Kyanjin Ri (4300m) and Trek back to Rimche

Kyanjin Ri Elevation: 4,300 m

Rimche Elevation: 2,450 m

Trek Duration: 8 hours

 

On the 4th day, you will hike to beautiful Kyanjin Ri to witness the grandeur of the mountain vistas. The trek to Rimche starts in the morning. You will ascend the uphill path of the trail. You will trek along a ridge and arrive at the top of the Kyanjin Ri. From the top you can see stunning views of Langtang Lirung Glacier, Yubra Peak, Yala Peak and Tserko Ri.

 

You can celebrate the moment and take many snapshots of the incredible scenery. Then, you will head back to Kyanjin Gompa and have lunch. After resting briefly at Kyanjin Gompa, you will trek back to Rimche. You will walk through the village settlements like Langtang Village and Ghodatabela. The return trek is scenic and serene as it passes through the dense rhododendron and oak forests and along the riverside trails. After you arrive at Rimche you can see a beautiful tea house surrounded by the green hills, where you will rest for the night.

Day 5

Trek Back to Shyabrubesi The Drive back Kathmandu

Syabrubesi  Elevation: 1,960 m

Kathmandu Elevation: 1,390 m

Trek Duration: 4 to 5 hours

Drive Duration: 7 hours

 

On the 5th day of the Langtang Valley Trek, you will trek back to Syabrubesi. You will depart from Rimche at around 8 A.M after breakfast. You will descend through a pine, bamboo and rhododendron forest. The sounds of rushing streams will keep you engaged the entire time. You will pass through traditional villages and witness the verdant landscapes. You will reach the beautiful Syabrubesi in around 4 to 5 hours.

 

Syabrubesi Village is the entry and end point of several popular trekking routes of the Langtang Region. The village is surrounded by the enchanting hills and offers beautiful views. Then, you will take a private vehicle and travel to Kathmandu by road. The drive presents beautiful views of rivers, waterfalls, hills and mountains. There will be short breaks in between where you will get time for refreshments.

 

You will reach Kathmandu after a 7 to 8 hours drive.  Afterwards, we will drop you off at your designated hotel which marks the completion of your exhilarating 5-day Langtang Trek.
