Annapurna Base Camp trek is a moderate trek and one of the most popular trekking destinations in Nepal. It will provide you with an opportunity to the view the magnificent mountains of the Annapurna region such as Mount Annapurna, Mount Himchuli, Mount Dhaulagiri, Mount Machhapuchhre and many others which are above the height of 8000 meters.

Annapurna Base Camp trek can be done in short time. The short Annapurna Base Camp trek duration ranges from 8- 10 days. This Itinerary will take you to the local villages of the Annapurna region such as Chhomrong, Sinuwa, Bamboo, Dovan, Himalaya, Deurali to the Annapurna Base Camp.

The Annapurna Base Camp trek via Poon Hill will take you through the Ghorepani Poon hill which lasts for 12-14 Days. Poon Hill is a popular viewpoint for sunrise and sunset. On this itinerary, the trek route passes through Nayapul, Birethanti, Hille, Ulleri, Banthanti, Ghorepani Poon Hill, Tadapani and meets short ABC trail at Chhomrong. From Chhomrong, you will follow the same path as in short annapurna base camp trek.

Along with the local villages and mountains, you will come across different waterfalls and rivers along the way to the Annapurna Base Camp. You will be surrounded by a wide variety of flora and fauna as you trek to the Annapurna Base Camp.

While descending from the Annapurna Base Camp, you can relax and sooth out your tired muscles in the Jhinu Danda Hot Spring. Jhinu Dada sits in an exotic geographical place that attracts several trekkers.

The tea houses and accommodation facilities in the Annapurna Base Camp are quite proper. They remain open in almost every season. You will be amazed to find varieties of food according to your choice in the tea houses of the Annapurna region. From local Nepali food to some international cuisine, you can expect varieties in food items.  

The Annapurna Base Camp sits at an altitude of 4130 meters while you have to cover a distance of 115 kilometers. To cover the distance, you may have to walk for about 6-7 hours a day. So you may have to face the problem of altitude sickness if you are not used to high altitude trekking. Therefore, it is better to take some basic training such as cycling, swimming and walking.

    Best Time for Annapurna Base Camp Trek

    Best time to trek to the Annapurna Base Camp depends according to personal preferences and choices. But, one of the peak seasons for trekking to the Annapurna Base Camp is during the month of September, October, November, March, April, and May.

    Autumn ( September, October, November)

    The temperature of the Annapurna region during autumn may range between 13-17 degrees during the day and during the night, the temperature is comparatively low. One of the best things about autumn is that you may not have to face the problem of rainfall while trekking. The atmosphere of the region is usually clear and dry in autumn due to which it is one of the most preferred time of the year for trekking to the ABC.

    Spring ( March, April, May)

    Spring is the second best time for trekking to the ABC after autumn. During Spring, the weather and temperature of the Annapurna region are warm and humid but not too hot for trekking. Spring is the time when new plants grow and flowers bloom. So, during this time, the surrounding becomes even more beautiful.

    If you are trekking in Spring, be prepared for the May rainfall too. Carry appropriate trekking gears when you leave for trekking. Make sure you check the weather forecast before starting your journey.
